Color Story: Chartreuse is That Girl
More and more we're seeing a shift towards playful, funky, modern designs. Green is still a key player in floral arrangements but it's less eucalyptus/sage tones and more of that fun, bright green known as chartreuse. We've compiled a few of our favorite chartreuse color pairings to inspire your planning process.
Stay Classic with Ivory
Here's a new take on a traditional classic - green & white but make it modern. For Alexa & Ryan's wedding at Cape Horn, they wanted drippy, botanical, and lush designs featuring lime green and white. We used green hydrangea, amaranth, and anthurium to bring in the chartreuse and then balanced designs with white hydrangea, zinnia, calla lillies, dahlias, and agrostemma.
Pair with Light Blue for a Wildflower Vibe
Lauren & Matt dreamt of a wildflower wedding full of light blues, whites, and greens. We mixed chartreuse amaranth with true green foliage like mint and lemon balm to create whimsical designs full of texture. The light blue hydrangea and delphinium added a pop of color while still feeling romantic and light.
Mix with Earth Tones for a Groovy Palette
Chartreuse marries well with earth tones such as dark green, brown, mustard, and terracotta. The bright, yellow-green creates contrast and adds dimension resulting in a groovy, playful, 70s atmosphere. For this styled shoot at The Evergreen we brought in chartreuse with amaranth, bells of Ireland, and hydrangea and added warmth with terracotta and beige roses, dark green & brown magnolia leaves, yellow solidago, and craspedia.
Make it Playful with Pinks
Pink tones like blush, mauve, and hot pink are so fun and playful next to chartreuse. A lighter pink will create a soft, garden vibe while a brighter pink will produce a lively, high energy feel.
For Emma & Vincent, we chose lime green zinnia to go with her bouquet of pink anthurium, snapdragon, dahlias, and rose-y amaranth.
