The Sweetheart Table
The sweetheart table is one of the most photographed tables at your reception. It should be an area that stands out but also flows with the rest of the room. There are so many fun ways to dress up your table - like repurposing some of your ceremony décor, adding a plethora of candles, or creating a sculptural frame.
We've compiled a few of our favorite recent sweetheart table designs to inspire your planning. We can't wait to start dreaming with you!
Repurposing Ceremony Elements
Amanda & Tuan - Ironlight
We repurposed pieces from Amanda and Tuan's ceremony for their sweetheart table at Ironlight. The ceremony pillars framed their table while the aisle entry pieces added a beautiful, lush focal point in front of them.
Stacia & Matthew - Abernethy Center
We moved the tall aisle entry pieces to frame Stacia & Matthew's sweetheart table for their fantasy-inspired wedding at Abernethy. We love how they incorporated other decor such as flags and lanterns to their table. The meadow arrangements helped elongate their sweetheart table and created a beautiful, symmetrical statement piece.
Lucy & Max at The Hood River Hotel
Lucy and Max opted for cylinder stands topped with bright, autumnal arrangements to as their ceremony backdrop. These were easily moved to either side of their sweetheart table, perfectly framing them in flowers!
Lindsey & Joe - Abernethy Center
For Lindsey & Joe's reception, we moved the aisle entry pieces to the front of their sweetheart table and used pieces from the gazebo install on the table for added volume.
Aubrey & Adam - Oregon Golf Club
Aubrey & Adam rented a boxwood backdrop to place behind their sweetheart table. We added clusters of blooms to the corner in additon to moving the aisle entry meadow pieces to the front to create a garden party atmosphere.
Abri & Paul - Abbey Road Farm
We love the high-low asymmetrical moment for Abri & Paul's sweetheart table. We used a pillar from their ceremony design to frame one side of the table and added ground pieces to the opposite side for balance (while still feeling unique and interesting). This is a fun example of using different pieces from your ceremony in a new way for your reception.
Location, Location, Location
Planning to have a show stopping installation or design for your ceremony? Consider placing your sweetheart table under or in front of the installation and get the most out of the design. Plus, it creates a visually stunning focal point.
Heather & Scott - Easton Broad
For this Valentine's inspired styled shoot at Easton Broad, we created a suspended chandelier of flower strings. The suspended install along with the upgrowing meadow pieces created a beautiful ceremony backdrop. When it was time to create the reception space, we moved their sweetheart table under the chandelier and the upgrowing pieces to the front of the table.
We love how the chandelier and the meadow pieces help center the couple and draw your eyes to them.
Nishi & Joey - Blockhouse
We designed a bright flower cloud for Nishi & Joey's wedding at Blockhouse. Flower clouds are such a fun statement piece so create more photo opportunities by having your sweetheart table placed below it after the ceremony. We also added several pillar candles for an extra glow!
Brianna & Luis - Saint Irenes
This suspended, asymmetrical floral piece was the backdrop for Brianna & Luis' vows and then the perfect frame for their sweetheart table. We also added a low and long on the table for added volume!
Arianna & Tristan - Blockhouse
A & T had their head table positioned under their airy, boho flower cloud at Blockhouse. Since this table had people seated on both sides, we added a low and long arrangement to the center of the table with candles on both sides.
Tabletop Designs
If you're not repurposing arrangements from your ceremony, consider adding arrangements sit atop your sweetheart table.
Ashley & Eric - Camp Colton
We designed a low and long arrangement to sit in front of Ashley and Eric on their sweetheart table. A couple of the arbor arrangements were also moved to the fireplace mantle and to the side of their table to add some asymmetry and to help frame the couple. Multiple candles were added to the table, mantle, and table legs for a romantic vibe.
Styled Shoot at The Gray Lab
We leaned into the wintery vibes for this styled shoot and draped the sweetheart table with evergreen garland. The taper candles & votives added more to the cozy feel of the shoot.
Kaitlin & Forrest - Abernethy Center Ballroom
We designed a low and long arrangement full of big, romantic blooms to sit atop Kaitlin & Forrest's sweetheart table in the ballroom at Abernethy. Ground pieces from their ceremony were placed in front to add more volume and taper candles added to the ambiance.
